Question Of Beaucon

Of course, this is a very chauvinistic point of view. Pero for the sake of discussion, hahayaan natin ito para sa aking blog entry for today.

Nanood daw muna sila ng coronation with matching commentary and all.

So what makes beauty pageants very important to many gay people? Honestly hindi ko alam. It is the same question running inside my head when I meet people who worships Mariah Carey or admire Lea Salonga o kaya naman they watch Glee the Musical.

Now going back to the question, what makes beauty pageants - especially Miss Universe worth the time? Is it about the question and answer portion? The dresses and national costumes of the contestants? The overall production of the event? Or is it the journey of each contestant on their way to winning the crown?

This is the first of a three-part series. Meanwhile, much as I find it unusual, I will openly throw my support to Miss Venus Raj dahil naging kakaiba ang kanyang paglalakbay para makalahok sa Miss Universe Pageant ngayong taon.

Nelly Furtado? That's 2007 won by Japan's Riyo Mori. Pageant was held in Mexico. LOL

By the way, I already filed a leave of absence on Aug. 24. =P

Well, I think Miss Universe has become a fixture in gays' pop culture.

This pageant is so festive and interesting to watch even though many spectators know that beauty contests (like MU) are shallow. I've been watching this pageant since 2004.

"Sh*t, pare, sarap mo. Kahit natalo Venezuela, panalo ka. Ang sikip mo, dude." LMAO

I'm not a beaucon fanatic, sad to say. Shame on me. LOL. Although, I like being entertained by the pageantry. Also, how gays try to imitate and/or mock the contestants for fun, or how gays make a repository of beaucon knowledge.

I think my fascination with Miss Universe started when i was little with my own preoccupation with countries around the world. I remember i loved flags, geography, and culture.

With just TV back then, and no internet, where else can i find such display of cultural and colorful festival about countries> Only in beauty pageants such as this.

Unlike the olympics, Miss U shows colorful National Costumes, which back then was my favorite part of the show. I am so ecstatic to see how these ladies stood proud to represent their countries wearing odd clothes i havent seen before.

I remember asking my Mom why Mauritania doesn't have a representative? She didnt give me an answer. That is how much I adore learning about different countries before.

As a Filipino, we were thought to be proud of our race, and Beauty Pageants is one international competition we are very good at. Chess? Bowling? or Boxing? is not an annual thing. And we dont do good at the Olympics at all. So we tend to focus on competitions where we have a good chance of winning.... Miss Universe.

I dont say Gays dont like Sports but we cannot deny that most of us are more attracted to beauty than physical competitions (at least in the Philippines). Thus, the majority love for Pageantry.

Other countries doesnt care much of these Beauty Pageants. They have less fanatics because they have other things else to be proud of, like i have said earlier, Sports and some other things like Art, Cinema, Literature, and Science.

Now we have Pacquiao, and Charice (hehehe) and some other good singers out there... we wont say goodbye to Beauty Pageants just yet. It has embedded in our culture already and must stay for a little bit longer.

This looks like a blog post already. So i say,.... Mabuhaaay!

I am one of those who never had any liking nor obsession to beauty pageants.

Sure, it's a great way to kill time but I'd rather watch Victoria's Secret Fashion Show any time of the day.

Although I would like to credit people who really anticipate the said event.

1. there's always that queen inside us just waiting for the right crown, sash and scepter

=)

Niyayaya ako ni bronx na mag-leave sa 24th. Sabi ko sa kanya, "You know I'm not into that. I'm not into girls." Hahahaha!

Icy Flame:

Lol.

Mabasa kaya ito ng ating kaibigan? Lolz.

Desole Boy:

I won't deny that in my wildest dreams, I also wish to wear the gowns those contestants wear.

Hep!!!

Nimmy:

Hehehe.

Sweetpea:

Haha got the inspiration from you.

Lyka Bergen:

Naks! Parang sumagot lang ng Q and A ah.

Seriously, yours was a very profound comment. May pinaghugutan!

Black Balloon is a very sad song.

Carrie:

Lolz.

Agree with your points.

Tamang kuwento lang. Hehehe. Na-chicken out ang mokong. Lolz.

Paci:

Bayani nga pag nagkataon. Hehehe.

Yung National Costume ni Venus Raj, very typical, easy on the eyes.

Kung last year, ang inspirasyon ng gown ni Bianca Manalo ay shower curtain (lower part) at gift wrapper sa SM at sa Rustans (upper part blue ribbon/silver crystal-embellished swimsuit), this year, shabu ang inspirasyon. aluminum foli kasi ang kulay ng gown. pwede ka ng pumilas dun sa gown para makapagshabu. LOL

To answer your question

I love watching Miss Universe kasi

I dunno pero it makes me understand things in a different perspective. LOL

3. Fashion - just look at the gowns. hehehee
